This Rolex Submariner Date reference was released by Rolex in August of 2020 and features a number of very subtle upgrades (in typical Rolex fashion) that take the iconic Submariner to new heights. This is the flagship watch of the entire Submariner range, and is a watch that every watch collector should get to own and experience at some point in their life.

The most obvious change to the watch is the larger case diameter (41mm) compared to previous models, following the trend towards larger watches in recent years. As well, the slightly wider bracelet is flanked by two case lugs with a slimmer profile.

Powering the watch is the COSC Chronometer-Certified calibre 3235 featuring bi-directional automatic winding, Parachrom hairspring, Chronergy escapement, 70-hours power reserve, hacking seconds and quick-set date function.

It all makes for a watch that sets the standard when it comes to high-end diving watches. Rolex is known for only doing subtle upgrades to their watches over the years, but one must ask, what sort of drastic update could they possibly make to a watch that’s already so perfect?
