The Richard Mille RM 020 is a highly avant-garde, manual-winding tourbillon pocket watch originally introduced in 2008. It represents a radical modernization of the traditional 19th-century gentleman’s accessory, combining classic horology with ultra-modern aerospace materials.
- Carbon Nanofiber Baseplate: The RM 020 was the first pocket watch in watchmaking history to use a non-metallic movement baseplate. This isotropic material—originally developed for U.S. Air Force fighter jets—is molded under a staggering pressure of 7,500 N/cm² at 2,000°C to ensure absolute mechanical and thermal stability.Â
- Massive Power Reserve: Equipped with a dual winding barrel system, the calibre RM020 movement delivers an exceptional 10-day (240-hour) power reserve. A dedicated power reserve indicator is positioned at 9 o’clock.Â
- Function Selector: Pushing the crown allows you to shift between Winding (R), Neutral (N), and Time-Setting (H) modes, much like a car’s gearbox. The crown itself features a torque-limiting mechanism to prevent accidental overwinding.Â
- Versatile Display: The watch measures 62 mm × 52 mm and is entirely skeletonised with sapphire crystal on both sides. It comes complete with a rugged, geometric titanium chain and a dedicated desk stand, allowing it to seamlessly transform into a luxurious pendulette de bureau (desk clock).
