Design & Construction
The timepiece features a distinctive tripartite case construction, combining Grade 5 titanium bezels and caseback with a striking Green Quartz TPT® caseband. Its design draws direct inspiration from the iconic Le Mans endurance race, incorporating the event’s signature green and white livery throughout the inner bezel and case sides, complemented by vibrant orange accents.
The openworked sapphire dial incorporates design elements inspired by the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe. An oversized date display at 4 o’clock is enhanced by a distinctive checkered-flag motif, while the racing-vented green rubber strap further reinforces the watch’s motorsport identity.
Mechanical Innovation & Functionality
Declutchable Variable-Geometry Rotor
One of the watch’s most notable mechanical innovations is its declutchable variable-geometry rotor. Designed to optimise the winding system and prevent excessive mainspring tension, the mechanism automatically disengages the rotor from the winding train once the power reserve reaches 55 hours. It subsequently re-engages when the power reserve falls to 40 hours, ensuring efficient and controlled winding.
Dedicated 24-Hour Counter
The dial features a specialised 24-hour counter, distinguished by a highlighted green numeral “16”. This detail pays tribute to the traditional 4:00 PM starting time of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.
Function Selector & Engagement Indicators
A push-button function selector integrated into the case allows the wearer to switch between three operating modes: Winding (W), Date Setting (D), and Hand Setting (H). The system draws inspiration from a racing car’s gearbox, translating motorsport functionality into an intuitive horological interface.
Additionally, an active clutch engagement indicator positioned at 11 o’clock provides a clear visual indication of the rotor’s operating status, displaying whether the winding mechanism is engaged or declutched.
Overall Character
This timepiece represents a compelling fusion of advanced horological engineering and motorsport heritage. Every design element, from its specialised composite construction and racing-inspired aesthetics to its sophisticated winding mechanism, reflects a commitment to technical innovation, precision engineering, and the spirit of endurance racing.
