The clock that realises perpetual motion. Not in theory, but in practice. The Atmos clock has been an endless source of fascination for the horologically inclined since its invention in 1928.

It’s the clock of presidents, prime ministers, kings and queens. Operating in total silence, it’s the thinking man’s clock.

The Atmos is a mechanical torsion pendulum clock, but unlike a standard clock or watch it isn’t powered by weights or a tensioned spring. A sealed capsule in the clock is filled with a mixture of gases that expand and contract with variations in temperature, and a change in ambient temperature of only one degree within 24 hours is enough to power the clock for two days.

The clock is in excellent condition commensurate with its age, having just been serviced by Master Clockmaker Andrew Markerink in Mittagong NSW.
